CCC April Competition

#1 The Line Up
by Marilyn Frenkel
Nice impact with Gold color and backlight. Impact was weak, due in part to the tilted stage line, and the odd mark/shadow above the center heads. Perhaps a tighter crop would work better. Also the center was a bit bright. 10+10+11=31 pts

#2 SFMOMA
by Ron Gibbs
Nice impact with Zebra Building. Shallow depth of field was a distraction as was the background in general. Again, perhaps a tighter crop would be best. 10+10=11=31pts

#3 Roof Lines
by Joe Colavita
Good texture, exposure, contrast with strong lines. Crop off some of the excess roof on the right, and lose, or include more of the left corner roof. Tweak the brightness and contrast as well. 10+12+12=34 pts

#4 Racing Lineage
by Lindsey Lobree
Nicely done double exposure carries off a creative examination of "lines". The white rug distracts a little, and the colors seem a bit dull and dark. 9+11+11=31 pts

#5 Pilot Mountain
by Lindsey Lobree
This image seemed to be more of a record shot than anything else, with the impact hurt by the colors and time of day, and the centering of the image. Some had a problem with this image relating to the topic "lines". 8+9+10=27 pts

#6 Maritime Reflections
by Rusty Rhodes
Nice creative B&W image. A bit more contrast was needed. The bow was a little bright, and the pier too blurred. 11+12+12=35 pts

#7 Lines of Strength
by Ken Barrett
A nice composition and exposure with the balance working well. The image format is a plus. Some wanted a tighter crop, and some wanted a little more exposure/definition of the surroundings to "anchor" the subject. 11+12+13=36 pts

#8 Lines of Light
by Marilyn Frenkel
A creative image with a nice solid dark background. Platform seemed a bit hot. The standing form needs to be sharper. Perhaps moving in, or cropping tighter would help the impact. 11+11+12=34 pts

#9 Lines in the Sky
by Maris Engle
Good strong foreground leads to good impact with good sharp focus a plus. While the perspective was nice, the sky was the area of most concern. Perhaps the sky could be darker (bluer) to contrast with the clouds more, or make it a solid dawn/dusk sky with little or no clouds. 12+12+12=36 pts

#10 Line Design
by Maris Engle
A good abstract image with nice colors and use of the rule of thirds created this nicely composed fun image. Perhaps the lower right corner could be turned black to increase the impact.. 11+13+13=37 pts

#11 Leaf Line
by Rusty Rhodes
A Nice Composition of a creative image. Bright spot near center is a distraction. The bottom also seemed a little soft, and the area above the center a little dark. 11+12+12=35 pts

#12 In the Rigging
by Laura Lansford
This is a fun shot with reasonable exposure. A tighter crop would help. More contrast is needed between the figure and the mast. Some wanted to see the face, and some wanted some hot spots on the legs to be less. 10+11+12=33 pts

#13 Forest of Masts
by Laura Lansford
A nicely exposed image. But the impact was hurt by no central focus of interest. A bit too busy. Again , perhaps concentrating a just a small segment would work better. 9+10+11=30 pts

#14 Flowers
by Romy Sreedharan
A nice idea for "lines". Reasonable composition. A bit oversaturated but it works to give it an other worldly quality. The right and left flowers appear a little soft, the flowers are a bit hot. Also the flowers on the edge have their petals clipped slightly. The dead blossom on bottom right could be taken out as well. 10+10+12=32 pts

#15 Flower-2
by Romy Sreedharan
Nice colors and contrast. The middle appears a little dark and the right side petals a little bright. The shallow depth of field made the petals a little soft. 9+10+12=31 pts

#16 Details in the Lines
by Ron Gibbs
Good focus and exposure in this image. The composition is fine except that most wanted the workers moved down and to the right in the frame. Perhaps a little tighter cropping might also help. 9+11+11=31 pts

#17 Charlotte Skyline
by Ken Barrett
Good composition with the foreground colors helping to frame the skyline nicely. Some thought the impact was weak, perhaps intensifying the blue sky, and even eliminating the left side buildings. 10+12+12=34 pts

#18 Basket Case
by Joe Colavita
This is a nice abstract with intense colors and patterns. Some thought the top 2 baskets could be skipped, and most thought the soft focusing was a distraction. 9+11+13=33 pts
