 #1 Sun Play by Laura Lansford The main subject was interesting and had nice color on it. However, the impact was low, due in part to the background buildings and the poor sky. Even the UFO was a distraction. 9+10+10=29 pts |  #2 Net Floats by Joe Colavita This is an interesting subject, especially the net and shadows, with nice earth tones. The image seems to lack impact perhaps due to the dull color. Cropping some off the right would help as well. 10+10+11=31 pts |  #3 In Motion by Marilyn Frenkel The judges liked the "impression" of a person, the movement, and the background. 11+12+12=35 pts |  #4 Way too Close by Ken Barrett This was a nice close up image with pretty sharp detail. Some thought there were a couple of hot spots, and the focus seemed a little soft around the head. 12+12+13=37 pts |
 #5 Flower Power by Ron Gibbs Nice color, good impact, creative were used to describe this image. The focus was reasonable, but not great. The left center seemed a little hot, the upper right corner had a problem, but most thought the white border/frame a distraction. 11+12+13=36 pts |  #6 Let Me Out of Here by Ken Barrett This is a pretty solid bird shot with good detail. Some thought the focus wasn't as sharp as they would like. Some wanted a catch light. 12+13+15=40 pts |  #7 Bumble Bee 2 by Laura Lansford This is nice subject matter. The technical side needs some work. Bee was soft and too dark, and some of the yellow petals were too hot. An awfully tough contrasty shot. 8+8+10=26 pts |  #8 Women by Marilyn Frenkel This image had nice color and composition with lots of emotion. Some thought the focus was fine, some thought it a little soft especially on the background girl. There also seemed to be a couple of hot spots that hurt the impact as well. 10+12+13=35 pts |
 #9 Beach Morning Shadows by Joe Colavita A very nice subject with good lines and texture. Impact was of concern here for a couple of reasons. The horizon appeared tilted, the sky was bland, the depth of field was not deep enough, and the time of day (in minutes or hours) was off. 10+11+13=34 pts |  #10 Fire and Ice by Ron Gibbs A wonderful flower abstract with good color, selective focus, and a creative flair. Perhaps there could be a little more in focus. 12+13+14=39 pts |
